More Grandpa and Grandma time

We drove over to visit my cousin Jeff on the Olympic Peninsula with my parents. It had been a little while since they last saw Will, so his Grandma and Grandpa were very impressed with how much he had grown. It took him very little time to demonstrate to Grandma his grasping ability. If you hold him, he'll grab on to your shirt.

Grandpa is impressed with Will's head strength.

... and then he finds her hand... which means it must go in the mouth.

Will liked the big mirrors and was fascinated with the baby looking back at him. If only this wasn't at 5 in the morning or so...

This was also Will's 3 month birthday. Catherine took some professional-style photos and we'll post them as soon as we get them editted.

Needing to learn more than the chorus

Will is always up for some morning entertainment. He especially enjoy the Beatles hit "Yellow Submarine" as he sat on my lap. Unfortunately I only knew the chorus, so I ended up repeating it over and over and over. Maybe useful to learn the rest of the lyrics if it keeps him this happy.

Our little noisemaker

We documented a little while ago that Will was smiling. The most recent discovery is that he has a "smile button" that is very effective. Just watch.

He's also started making a lot more interesting noises (of the non-crying variety, not that he cries that much).

He likes sitting up on the couch with us. I have a feeling this will last as long until he learns to roll over. Then not rally a safe place for him.

First baseball game

We took Will to his first baseball game. He got to see the Mariners take on the Boston Red Sox. He seemed very enthralled from the start of the game, but that may have just been all the televisions positioned around our seats.

We met our friend Brian and Lily at the game and Will impressed them with how easy going he was.

Time for a family shot in front of the field. Yes, the roof is over the stadium since it was a rainy day out side, which made sure we got to see the game.

Will decided that the 7th inning stretch really should be the 7th inning nap. That or he was tired of watching the Mariners lose. Don't worry Will, if you grow up a Cubs fan like your Dad, Uncle D, and Grandpa, there will be plenty of more disappointment in the future.

Will's first day with the nanny.

Catherine started her first week at work, which meant that Will started his first week with the nanny. We are doing a nanny-share with another couple, so Will has a playmate with him. We think that Miss Julia will do a great job with both boys. Dropping off Will almost seemed like it was the first day of school. Here is a picture from that first day.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a very good Labor Day weekend. Saturday was Catherine's day out. In the morning she went to work out in the morning and later in the day she went to get a massage. It was a very nice day for her, and Will and I had a fun time hanging out together. I was teaching him how to hot smoke salmon and we had some college football on in the background. Will actually napped through a lot of the time Catherine was away, sometimes taking a interesting napping position.

We didn't get out so much the rest of the weekend because of the weather, but still had fun. Miss AJ and Mister Sean came over to visit and we went to the Barking Dog on Sunday for dinner with them. And Will also decided to demonstrate his increasing head strength.

Working on hand eye coordination

The playmat has been a really nice space for Will. Reaching and grabbing on to the chicken hasn't been a problem, but what he really enjoys is hearing the overhead bell ringing. He wasn't able to purposefully ring it though. Sometimes he would accidentally kick/hit it, but most of the time he was waiting for Mommy or Daddy to ring the bell for him.

Earlier in the week we put a hippo with a bell in it by where his feet sit, and he seemed to like being able to make noise with that.

But, earlier today he was able to hit the bell hanging overhead repeatedly and with purpose. He's clearly entertained by it, but I think we sound more excited than him about it.

Fitting your whole fist in your mouth

We let you know a few weeks ago that Will had started finding his fist. We finally got a good video of him trying to fit the whole fist into his mouth and how loud he is when he starts sucking.
